Sara began teaching voice to her friends, band-mates and several non-singing musicians while in college in the 1990's. After finishing her Music Education degree and earning a MN teaching license, she pursued vocal pedagogy in graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and through the VoiceCare Network at Saint John's in Collegeville.
Sara previously worked teaching voice at Waconia High School, MN and also taught private voice, piano and guitar at Trinity Lutheran School of Music.
She has taught voice through St. Paul Community Ed and started St. Paul Music Lessons as her home studio in 2002. Her studio currently has 40 students taking weekly lessons and very limited openings.
Joseph Clegg teaches both voice and piano. He has sung the lead tenor roles of St. Brioce in "The Merry Widow", Ferrando in "Cosi Fan Tutte" and Hoffmann in "The Tales of Hoffmann". He has also sung comedic leads in musical theatre, including Moonface Martin in "Anything Goes" and Marcellus Washburn in "The Music Man". He has taught middle and high school music, directed Kingsland Schools choirs and showchoir in Spring Valley, MN. He has been a private voice instructor for 11 years in Mankato, MN, Wichita, KS, and Waunakee, WI and has judged High School vocal contests. Joseph has a lifelong dedication to music, his students, and enhancing other's lives through all types of music.
Joseph has openings for voice lessons on Monday evening and Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Lily Troia is the newest teacher at SPML. Lily Troia began studying classical piano at age 8, adding voice and flute shortly thereafter. Her musical studies continued into college where she studied music education and eventually ethnomusicology at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) earning a Bachelor of Music and graduating with high honors.
Lily began teaching piano in high school and has taught beginner, intermediate and advanced intermediate students of all ages and backgrounds for over 10 years. She has received consistently positive feedback on her dedicated, focused, yet comfortable approach to piano pedagogy and voice instruction that incorporates music history and theory.
