Each voice lesson is tailored to your needs and
what you wish to accomplish through lessons. The first lesson is generally
a fact finding mission for me, as I listen to your voice to determine
where it's strengths and weaknesses are. I use vocal exercises and
demonstrations and examples. It's also an opportunity for you to learn how
your voice works, ask questions and get a feeling for my teaching style.
Sometimes things progress quickly enough that we can begin to learn a
song, although we usually don't get to that until lesson number 2.
Most students need a minimum of 4 lessons before they really hear and feel
any improvement. And with regular practice (at least 5 times per week),
students will gain measurable, noticeable progress, including flexibility,
tone quality, improved range and confidence within a few months.
For interested students who have never had previous voice lessons, I recommend scheduling a one-time voice evaluation/lesson before committing to an entire quarter.
This gives you the opportunity to sample lessons and gain some confidence and hands-on experience with the lesson process.
